Now in our second century of service, Greater Atlanta’s Red Cross is hard at work in our diverse community of 5 million people – every day – bringing help and hope to neighbors in need. With the same passion and commitment of our volunteer founders, we’re empowering a new generation to prevent, prepare for and cope with emergencies that devastate homes, threaten lives and separate loved ones.
We serve 12 metro counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding and Rockdale. Our Executive Director, Terri Badour, and an all-volunteer board of directors guide the work of our chapter in three key areas: disaster preparedness and response; health and safety training; and emergency communications support for military and international families.
Today, we carry out our Red Cross mission in metro Atlanta with the help of 1,300 registered volunteers. The ratio of local volunteers to paid employees is approximately 22:1.
We’re in local communities every day, helping people prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. We teach life-saving skills, provide resources for military families and help international families in crisis.
We also support our Southern Blood Services region in their efforts to ensure a safe and ready blood supply in Georgia. How do we empower so many of our neighbors to respond to emergencies? By mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. We can’t turn heartbreak into hope without your help! Our Impact In the past year, American Red Cross in the Georgia Region has been able to make a difference in our local community because of the generosity of our donors and support of our volunteers.
