The VA Aid and Attendance (A&A) Program is a federal benefit that provides additional financial assistance to eligible Veterans and their surviving spouses who require help with daily living activities. In Georgia, the Georgia Department of Veterans Service (GDVS) offers comprehensive support to Veterans and their families, assisting them in understanding and applying for benefits like the A&A Program.
Services Provided by GDVS:
Benefits Assistance: GDVS Veterans Field Service Offices offer personal assistance to Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors in all matters related to Veterans benefits. This includes guidance through the claims and appeals process for benefits such as the A&A Program.
The VA Aid and Attendance Program, supported by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, provides financial assistance to eligible Veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily living activities.
To qualify for the A&A benefit, Veterans or their surviving spouses must meet one of the following criteria:
Require assistance with daily activities like bathing, feeding, or dressing.
Be confined to bed due to illness.
Reside in a nursing home because of mental or physical incapacity.
Have corrected visual acuity of 5/200 or less in both eyes or a visual field contraction to 5 degrees or less.
