The GA Department of Veteran Services – VA Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant program provides financial assistance to eligible veterans with service-connected disabilities to help them modify their homes to accommodate their specific needs. The program is designed to assist veterans who are mobility-impaired or have significant physical limitations as a result of their military service. The SAH grant can be used to construct, modify, or improve a home, ensuring it is accessible and safe for the veteran. These adaptations may include wheelchair ramps, widened doorways, or specialized bathroom features, all aimed at improving the veteran’s independence and quality of life.

To be eligible for the VA Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Veterans or service members who have a permanent and total service-connected disability that affects their mobility (e.g., loss of use of legs or arms, severe burns, blindness, etc.).
The veteran must be eligible for a VA disability rating and provide documentation confirming the nature of the disability.
The veteran must own or plan to own the property to be adapted.
The grant is available to veterans who have not received the maximum grant amount in the past (reapplication may be possible depending on remaining eligibility).
