Description:

The City of Atlanta COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program is available to City of Atlanta residents ONLY. Funds may be used to cover past due rent, utilities, and move-in deposits as a result of impending eviction. Resident must provide documentation to prove identity, income, the loss of income caused by the pandemic, and the amount of need-based on past due bills or a move-in deposit. To qualify, the resident must have a current income of 80%AMI or less (qualifying income is considered after job loss or financial hardship took place). Type of Assistance: Atlanta COVID-19 Emergency Housing Assistance Program Funds can be applied to current/past due expenses for rent, gas utilities, electric utilities, water utilities, apartment security fees, security deposit, trash removal, and internet services. Some applicants may also be able to apply for assistance with 3 months of prospective payments as well.

Eligibility:

Residents must meet eligibility requirements established by the federal government, including:
• One or more individuals within the household have qualified for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due, directly or indirectly, to the COVID-19 outbreak;
• One or more individuals within the household can demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and
• The household’s income is at or below 80% of the area median income.
